The UK Cornhole League’s June 8th Qualifier 3, held at Everyone Active Leisure Centre in Ashby De La Zouch, was a landmark event. With 46 participants, it marked the largest turnout in the league’s history, highlighting the sport’s growing popularity.
The event was crucial as it determined the final qualifiers for the National Finals on July 20th. Liam McGrath, known for his relentless practice, emerged victorious. He defeated five opponents in the elimination rounds, conceding only 12 points overall. In the final, Liam in the King seat faced Daniel Lilley, whom he had previously defeated, sending Daniel to the losers bracket. Daniel fought back to the finals, winning the first game 21-17. However, Liam secured the championship by winning the second game 21-18. Matthew Richardson who finished 3rd, made an emotional annoucement to the audience, stating that this would be his last event as he returns back to his country of the USA. The UKCL would like to thank Matthew for his contribution to the growth of the sport in the UK and being the guy that everyone aspired to beat.
