From the flight decks of the Royal Navy to the top lanes of the UKCL circuit, Dave Morey is proving that calm under pressure isn’t just a trait required in the military — it’s also what makes him one of UK cornhole’s most quietly formidable competitors.
A Royal Navy Air Engineer Officer, Dave was first introduced to cornhole while deployed in Kuwait, where he regularly pitched bags alongside U.S. service personnel. What started as a welcome way to unwind soon became a serious interest. Upon returning to the UK, Dave officially joined the UK Cornhole League at the start of Season 2, quickly turning heads with his clinical style and unshakable composure.

Though limited availability this season meant he missed out on a Top 16 Nationals spot, don’t let that fool you — Dave’s flawless blocking game and signature airmail drags make him a genuine threat in any bracket. His most notable highlight came during the ACO Tier 2, where he delivered a masterclass comeback victory over Olly “Airmail” Chivers, sealing the title with precision that left spectators in awe.

Building the South Coast Cornhole Scene
Off the court, Dave juggles family life, golf, and refereeing football — but his biggest contribution to the UK cornhole community may be what he’s built in his hometown of Portsmouth.
With no existing cornhole club in the area, fate intervened when Dave needed a doubles partner and was connected with Jared Neusch, an American player stationed in the UK. Together, they co-founded the now-thriving Solent Cornhole Club, whose players and now-iconic blue jerseys have become a fixture at UKCL events across the country.
Through his efforts, the South Coast now has a strong and growing cornhole presence, thanks to his drive to give local players a space to train, improve, and compete.

Humble Goals, Hidden Threat
Ask Dave what his goal is heading into the Tier 2 Nationals, and his answer is simple:
“I just want to see the lads bring home some silverware.”
But behind that humility lies the skill and experience of a player who knows how to win, and more importantly, knows how to keep his cool when it counts most. His teammates know it. His past opponents know it. And anyone underestimating him at Nationals might be in for a shock.
With a legacy already forming as both player and club founder, Dave Morey is doing more than competing — he’s elevating the sport.
