Danny Goodier: Rochdale’s Risk-Taker Returns for Nationals

Updated: May 18

In the world of UK Cornhole, few players bring as much energy, confidence, and fearless flair to the boards as Danny Goodier. Hailing from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, the charismatic landscape gardener and proud father of two is preparing for just his second UKCL appearance this season — but make no mistake, when Nationals roll around, Danny always shows up.

Family First, but Cornhole Always in the Calendar

With a busy schedule that includes raising his children Mia, Millie and Arlo alongside his partner Lauren, Danny has made a conscious choice this season to put family first. His commitment to his kids’ happiness and growth is unwavering, often putting his own training time on hold to be there for them. Even so, Nationals is one date that’s firmly locked into his calendar.

Away from the boards, Danny is a multi-sport enthusiast with a love for football, badminton, tennis, padel, and even paddleboarding. His range is so broad it could make for its own sports docu-series — but when it comes to Cornhole, that same enthusiasm and versatility comes into play every time he steps on the court.

Fearless on the Boards

A UKCL regular since Season 1, Danny has developed a reputation for playing with bold strategy and surgical execution. His favourite move? Block the hole. Wait. Then airmail over the top. It’s a tactic that’s earned him plenty of fans — and more than a few scalps.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Danny embraces his underdog status. One of his most memorable matches came against reigning Tier 2 champion Charlie Lomax — a tense, high-quality battle that, despite ending in defeat, remains one of Danny’s proudest Cornhole memories.

Aiming for Another Podium

Though he’s had limited court time this season, Danny isn’t one to be written off. His third-place finish at Nationals Tier 2 last season proves what he’s capable of when it matters most. With that same fire and competitive edge, Danny’s goal is clear:

“I want to bring some wood back to Manchester. I might not have had much practice, but I’m coming to win.”

The UKCL Nationals always bring out the best in players — and with Danny Goodier back on the bracket, expect fireworks, finesse, and a few fearless airmails.
