Rochdale’s own Marv Kershaw is no stranger to overcoming challenges — both on and off the cornhole court. Representing Manchester Cornhole Club, Marv blends competitive fire with community impact, making him one of the UKCL’s most respected and admired players.
By day, Marv works as an Advisor in Skills, Training and Employment for the local council, collaborating with the Prison Service, DWP, and vulnerable residents in need of support. By night — and often by weekend — he swaps the office for the boards, adding cycling and 10K charity runs to a packed schedule that’s rooted in purpose and passion.

Marv’s UKCL journey began at Season 2’s National Championships, where he impressed with a 13th-place finish and a highlight-reel moment on the show court. With his family cheering him on via live stream, Marv clinched a memorable win — a victory that still motivates him heading into the Tier 2 competition this June.
This season, however, it’s not just about memories — it’s about momentum. Marv is setting his sights on climbing the rankings and challenging for a top-tier finish. He’s particularly driven to be the top-performing Manchester Cornhole Club player, a tall task given the club’s pedigree, but one Marv is tackling with determination.

Watch closely at the Nationals and you’ll likely catch Marv’s signature move — a sharp push-collect technique honed through hours of sparring with elite teammates, including UKCL Season 2 #1, Daniel Lilley. With refined skills and a competitive mindset, Marv is certainly one to watch.
And for those wondering — yes, Marv is short for Marvellous. With performances like the ones he’s becoming known for, the name fits perfectly.
