Historic First Doubles Championships Conclude at Everyone Active Leisure Centre with Jon Stynes & Craig Smith taking the honours



UKCL Doubles Winners, Runners up and 3rd place players

The UK Cornhole League marked a milestone with the first ever Doubles Championships held at the Everyone Active Leisure Centre in Ashby De La Zouch on the 20th April. The event saw 40 players forming 20 teams in a fiercely competitive atmosphere, enriched by the debut of eight new players. The unique format comprised singles rounders and a double elimination bracket, ensuring each player participated in at least five games.

 

The championship culminated in a riveting finale where Jon Stynes and Craig Smith of the Knarsdale Cornhole Club clinched the title. Their remarkable performance included a decisive 21-2 victory in the first final game followed by a 21-10 win, overcoming the previously undefeated duo from the Bury Baggers Cornhole Club, Matthew Richardson and Alex Bowers, who took the runner-up spot. The third place was impressively secured by Ben Shaw and Charlie Lomax, who have only been in the sport for six months.

 

Performance stats from the day highlighted Daniel Lilley with the highest PPR average throughtout the day at 8.22, while Craig Smith and Charlie Lomax led with the most 4 Baggers. This event not only altered the rankings, with Matthew Richardson reclaiming the top spot and Charlie Lomax jumping 19 places, but also set the stage for the next qualifier scheduled for June 8th in Ashby De La Zouch.
