The UK Cornhole League is entering an exciting new chapter, with a sports group consortium Zouchie Ltd, led by former UK Cornhole League board member Alistair Pettitt, alongside Nick Pettitt and Ben Gregory, stepping in to continue the legacy set by founder Daniel Lilley. This transition comes with a commitment to not only uphold the 2023/2024 league calendar but also to introduce fresh initiatives aimed at propelling the league and the sport of cornhole to new heights.
As we navigate through these changes, we understand the importance of maintaining the essence of what makes the UK Cornhole League special. While adjustments, including potential venue shifts, may be necessary, we deeply appreciate the understanding and support from our league members. These modifications are steps towards enhancing the league’s future, ensuring its growth and sustainability.
A highlight of our forward-looking agenda is the introduction of a doubles league format. Set to debut on 20th April in Ashby De La Zouch, this format promises a fun, competitive environment with an imminent poll to all league players to vote on if this format should be a ranking points event. It’s an opportunity for players to team up, showcasing camaraderie and skill in a new arena.
Moreover, the final ranking event is eagerly anticipated for June 8th, also in Ashby De La Zouch, with registrations now open. This event continues our tradition of competitive excellence and community spirit.
Alistair Pettitt remarks on the transition:
"We are honoured to build upon the solid foundations laid by Daniel and the community. His dedication has been pivotal in establishing a competitive platform for cornhole in the UK. Our vision is to amplify this legacy, enhancing the league’s presence through strategic partnerships and spotlighting our talented players. We invite the entire UK Cornhole community to join us in this journey, sharing ideas and passions as we usher in a new era for the sport."
From Daniel Lilley:
"As I pass on the torch of the UK Cornhole League to it’s new owners, my heart is full of pride for what we've achieved together. This league was born from a passion for cornhole, and seeing it flourish has been one of my greatest joys. I'm confident in the new leadership's vision for growth and innovation. I urge the community to embrace these changes, supporting the league as it continues to bring us together in the spirit of competition and fun.
The future is bright, and I look forward to continue participating competitively and witnessing the remarkable heights the UK Cornhole League will reach."
This transition is a testament to the power of community and the shared love for cornhole. It's a time of renewal and growth, with a clear focus on enhancing the player experience and expanding a viable league footprint. Together, let's welcome this new chapter with open arms, ready to contribute to the sport's flourishing future.
