In the high-stakes world of UK cornhole, some players make noise with bold claims and flashy plays. Others, like Alex Bowers, let their game do the talking.
A full-time HGV mechanic from Bury St Edmunds, Alex is no stranger to competition. Whether it's fine-tuning engines or fine-tuning his bag placement, he's methodical, focused, and quietly effective. Add in a passion for badminton, where he’s played for over two decades, and a love for sports ranging from cricket and darts to rugby and snooker, it’s clear that competitive fire runs deep in the Bowers household—where he also balances life as a husband and dad of two.

From Oxford to Paris – A Cornhole Journey
Alex made his UKCL debut back in Season 1 at Oxford, and has been a steady force on the scene ever since. His breakout came in Season 2, when he partnered with Bury Baggers founder Matt Richardson to claim second place in the UKCL Doubles Championship—a performance that put him firmly on the radar.

Since then, he’s notched wins over some of the league’s more established names and even represented the UKCL overseas at the ACL Paris event in 2023.
A Tier 2 Sleeper Pick
Due to family commitments, Alex hasn't been as active on the circuit this season, just missing out on the top 16 cut-off for Tier 1. But anyone assuming he’ll quietly coast through Tier 2 may want to think again.
A player known for his consistency and composure, Alex enters the Tier 2 Nationals as one of the most experienced players in the field. Though he modestly insists he hasn’t yet had his standout game this season, those who’ve faced him know better.
“Let’s wait and see,”
he says when asked about his chances. But if history is anything to go by, Alex Bowers is more than capable of turning quiet confidence into podium success.
